This report provides annual activity statistics for the private equity and venture capital markets of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in 2020 and prior years. Central and Eastern Europe occupies a unique position in the European investment landscape. Like the rest of Europe, CEE’s 2020 private equity activity levels were not immune to the effects of the COVID-19 crisis. However, behind the headline fall in investment value, private equity investment in CEE reached a record 566 companies in 2020, up 15% on 2019’s previous record, and 46% above the annual average for 2015-2019.
